Georgina Robinson - Study Support

27 January 2025

The Incorporation was delighted to be able to provide a small grant to Georgina Robinson, who is currently studying for a master's degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Edinburgh, to support her in taking part in field trips required for her studies. Georgina reported:

"This year I visited the newly designed and installed garden at the Natural History Museum, London, along with site visits to the Esk river catchment. Both trips were kindly supported by The Incorporation of Gardeners of Glasgow as part of my studies for a master’s degree in landscape architecture.

The Natural History Museum of London is a particularly exciting project to visit, as it combines contemporary landscape architecture with environmentally friendly and forward-thinking practices. After spending two days sketching and learning about this garden, the landscape architects involved in this project, J&L Gibbons, gave us a tour of the garden. They explained its ethos and educational goals and how this was delivered through construction and material choices. This broadened my ideas of what could be achieved in urban spaces and I will now carry this approach into my project in the River Esk catchment, using environmental and ecological interventions to mitigate flooding in urban areas.

The opportunity to visit landscape architecture projects that are paving the way for a greener urban future allows students like me to open our minds and seek creative solutions for a more sustainable world. I would like to thank The Incorporation of Gardeners of Glasgow for this opportunity."

We wish Georgina every success as she continues her studies.
