Opening of "Elsewhere Garden"
20 June 2024
The Deacon, Late Deacon and Hon. Life Master Ex-Deacon Park were delighted to attend the official opening of the "Elsewhere Garden" in the grounds of the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, on 20 June 2024.
The garden has been created to expand and develop on the success of existing art therapy programmes operated by the Teapot Trust, for children visiting the hospital. These programmes seek to reduce the stress and anxiety experienced by children when they visit the hospital, making the whole experience more positive. As the wider hospital campus has the largest footfall of any healthcare facility in Europe, it is expected the garden will benefit thousands of visitors over the years.
The Incorporation was delighted to make available a grant of £3,400, to provide three benches for the garden. The Deacon and Late Deacon are pictured enjoying a seat on one of the recently installed benches.
The garden opening achieved national press coverage, including at on STV news (click for link).
